Music & Sound Design by Jiabei Tang
I skilled at transforming unrelated recordings into precise cinematic sound effects. For example, I used plucked piano strings to create machine activation sounds and plastic noise to mimic plants growing, through plugins, modulation, and textural processing. I also excel at shaping existing sound effects through editing and layering, creating textures that follow the visual rhythm, movement on screen, and lighting, which helps strengthen the clarity of the story and the flow of emotion.
I bring together world instruments including the nyckelharpa, shakuhachi and taiko with electronic elements, creating expressive tones that add emotional depth. My understanding of frequency balance, placement, and dynamics helps me keep the music
and sound design working in harmony, avoiding any masking, even in dense and energetic sequences.
This project highlights my strengths in creative sound transformation, timbral innovation, world-instrument integration, and the delicate balance between music and sound design.
